Moving Into Your New Home
Before the Move
Before you start your renovation, you would need to:
- Check for defects after collection of keys.
- For new flats, you can request for rectification works to be done by HDB.
- Apply for your renovation permit
- Sign up for your utilities account
- Apply for HDB Fire Insurance
After moving to your new home, you may update your residential address online. If you are unable to transact online and need help, please visit ICA.
Moving In
For outdoor activities, find your nearest park connector for a workout or visit a nearby community garden in your neighborhood.
If you are looking for something indoors, you can also book a library visit or search for upcoming programmes at the library.
Things to Note as an HDB Owner
As an HDB homeowner, there are various payments to make for an HDB housing loan.
- Property Taxes
- Determined by your home’s Annual Value (AV) - the annual amount that you would get from renting out your property - which you can check with this online calculator.
- Home Insurance Premiums
- Maintenance/Conservancy fees
- Ranging from $20 to $90 a month for Singapore citizens (subsidised)
- Check with your town council for details
- Monthly housing loan repayments
Before the age of 55, you can use your CPF Ordinary Account savings for early repayment of your housing loan to balance your housing and retirement needs.
You may also consider refinancing your HDB housing loan with the bank. However, you will not be able to refinance with HDB subsequently.
